Electric Guitar

What is the stigma that surrounds learning electric guitar? Getting info about how and what to play has never been easier with the advent of the internet.  You would think with as many videos that are available now, you would not need an instructor.

Ding, ding.. there is one big problem with this philosophy, which information is good and which is bad?  As a self taught player, how would one know?  As a beginner, a player looks for others that ‘sound’ good (regardless of technique).  These kind of players usually start out with the really cool riffs, but little attention is paid to the foundational techniques that allow you to play those licks easier.

This is where you need an instructor.  Foundation is important, its the core topic I go over from the very first lesson.  I will go over the core techniques that you did not get in that YouTube video (but should of).  And the best news is, my first lesson is free.

I could go on for days all the things I teach.  If your curious, there are plenty of other instructor postings on craigslist that go over this in painful detail (I teach the same stuff and then some).

To a layman learner, the description of college music syllabus 105 and shred guitar technobabble in somebody’s ‘♫ I teach guitar ♫’ pitch is usually Greek.  To me, the most important thing is getting you to your goals (and not pitching what I think you should learn).  It’s that simple.  Yes, to reach these goals may require in depth music theory and technical articulation training.  But in the end, its what you want and not what I think you want.

Additionally, my lesson’s are not canned.  I do not throw a Mel Bay book at you and tell you to learn page such and such (although I assure you, I have these books).  Point being is that learning any instrument is not a one size fits all path.  I score out lesson material manually (in traditional notation AND tab).  This is a huge money saver for the student because you do not pay for additional instructional materials from elsewhere.  You get it directly from me.
