Lessons

Registering for the forum gives you access to the MAKE PAYMENTS menu.  Go HERE for a registration tutorial.

First, it important to know what your paying for.

As of August 2010, lessons are taught one-on-one supplemented with online access to the forums.  I am not taking just online students at this time.  However, systems are being put in place to expand lessons to home school students in the State of Alaska through online education.

As I have mentioned in my program descriptions, the first lesson is free. Not only that, but registering for the forum allows you to ask questions or speak to fellow students about music related topics. As time permits, I will try to answer questions and post free lessons to the ‘Open’ forum. You get this without paying anything.

Why do I do this? It’s important that you know what you’re getting first.  I challenge my competitors to offer this same service. It is in your best interest as a student or parent of a student to shop around and get a feel of what you’re paying for. You wouldn’t buy a car without test driving it. Music lessons, being a long term investment of time and money, should be approached the same way.

For my subscription students, they also have secure access to the exclusive content area of the forum.  This section gets my undivided attention.  Students can ask questions at any time and I can provide in depth feedback.  Additionally, your fellow students can also partake in group programs designed to spur creativity and emphasize a sense of community with their fellow students.

How do I pay for Lessons?

I have two systems in place for this.  One is through an online subscription system and the other is by check or cash. The online system offers several advantages.

  1. The online system can be paid through Paypal, Credit Card, Debit or via direct draw from your bank account.  Paying by credit card will allow you to accumulate airline miles.  If you have a child who is enrolled in home school, this equates to free airline miles.
  2. Subscription payments are automatic.  No worrying about making payments on time, it’s on time like clockwork. You have full control over your subscription (s) which gives you the ability to modify or cancel them easily. As an added feature, you also have the ability to view and print your invoices.
  3. The subscription system is totally secure.  You have full control over the payment schedule through your secure forum profile settings.

But I don’t feel comfortable with subscription payments

If you are viewing this through your own internet connection, chances are that payments are sent to your internet service provider automatically.  I use the same secure system that is the industry accepted standard by banks around the world.

I can still take cash or check, but it is more expensive. Why?  Because not using the online system means doing everything manually. This includes everything from invoicing to processing payments.

I teach students to be efficient when they play their instrument.  It only makes sense that I would extend this to your billing.

So whats the bottom line?

For those not using the online billing system, the following prices apply.

  • Private Lessons – $45 per hour plus tax
  • Group Lessons – $37.50 per hour plus tax

For those using the online billing system, the following prices apply

  • Private Lessons – $40 per hour plus tax
  • Group Lessons – $35 per hour plus tax

I also have a special ‘college prep course’ that is $25 an hour (limit 4 hours) to prepare for auditions.

For groups of five (5) or more, I have special prices depending on class size.  Please contact me for details.

Lee Gattenby Music is conveniently located near the cities of Kenai and Soldotna (check the Locations link). Therefore a 3% tax is levied for all lessons and materials.

Ok, I’m ready to start!
